Facilitating higher photovoltaic penetration in residential distribution networks using demand side management and active voltage control

چکیده

Future power networks are certain to have high penetrations of renewable distributed generation such as photovoltaics (PV). At times PV and low customer demand (e.g., summer), network voltage is likely rise beyond limits mandated by grid codes resulting in a curtailment generation, unless appropriate control means used. This leads reduction energy yield consequently reduces the economic viability systems. work focuses on scenario-based impact assessments underpinned net prosumer load forecasting framework part system planning aid sustainable policymaking. Based use-case scenarios, efficacy smart solutions side management (DSM) Active Voltage Control maximizing therefore revenue returns for prosumers avoided costs distribution between developed country (the UK) developing (India) analyzed. The results showed that while DSM could be preferred because its potential deployment via holistic response schemes India similar nations, technically combination weaker with significantly higher solar resource meant it not effective preventing curtailment.

Distributed Voltage Control in Distribution Networks with High Penetration of Photovoltaic Systems

In this paper, a distributed method for reactive power management in a distribution system has been presented. The proposed method focuses on the voltage rise where the distribution systems are equipped with a considerable number of photovoltaic units. This paper proposes the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMMs) approach for solving the optimal voltage control problem in a distri...

Optimal Sitting, Sizing, and Operation of Batteries and Passive Filters to Mitigate Over-voltage and Harmonic Problems in Distribution Networks with High Photovoltaic Penetration

Photovoltaic systems (PVs), despite their many advantages, may have effects such as power quality issues (voltage and harmonics increase), short-circuits level increase, protection issues, and transient stability for network. Some of these effects are due to the high PV penetration, which encounters the network with the over-voltage and harmonics problems. In this paper, the location, size and ...

Demand Side Load Management in the Distribution System with Photovoltaic Generation

Original scientific paper Recently, there has been made a great effort to include electricity generation from the renewable energy sources into the power system. Random renewable generation creates the imbalance between electricity production and consumption, which requires power plants with fast response or energy storage systems. Generally accepted solution for load balancing is the concept o...

Decentralized Voltage Control in Active Mv Distribution Networks

A decentralized voltage control strategy for MV distribution networks is here proposed, which is based on the possibility at any specific node to locally estimate the voltage level variations at the neighbouring nodes through the real-time measure of the current flowing on the incoming and outgoing lines. This enables to develop voltage control strategies accounting for 3 adjacent buses althoug...
